Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Bitsmart Global LLC (“ProCat”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses and shares information when you use the ProCat editor and website at procatstudio.com and app.procatstudio.com (the “Service”).
For the purposes of data-protection law, ProCat acts as a data controller for your account, billing and usage information, and as a data processor for the media you process through the Service.
Your media remains under your control. Editing, color grading and preview happen locally in your browser. We do not access or store your files unless required to provide a feature you explicitly use — such as a cloud render you request.
1. Information we collect
- Account information — your name, email address and a securely hashed password.
- Billing information — handled by our payment processor, Stripe. We do not receive or store full payment-card numbers; we keep your plan, subscription status and a Stripe customer identifier.
- Usage & device information — IP address, browser and operating system, session timestamps, and log, crash and performance data, which may include anonymized or pseudonymized identifiers. Used for security, analytics, reliability and to operate the Service.
- Your media — files you import are processed in your browser. When you request a cloud render, the necessary media and your edit are transmitted to our render service and the resulting file is stored temporarily for you to download. Temporary copies of media may be created in memory or storage strictly for processing, rendering, performance and error recovery.
- Communications — messages you send us (e.g. support emails).
2. How we use information
- To provide, operate and maintain the Service and your account;
- To authenticate you, verify your email and process password resets;
- To process payments and manage subscriptions;
- To run cloud renders you request and notify you when they finish;
- To understand usage, improve the product, and keep the Service secure and free from abuse;
- To maintain, secure and improve the reliability of the Service, including logging necessary for those purposes; and
- To comply with legal obligations.
We may use aggregated or anonymized information that does not identify you to analyze usage and improve the Service.
Where the GDPR applies, we process personal data on the bases of performing our contract with you, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service, your consent where required, and compliance with our legal obligations.
3. Cookies
We use a small number of essential cookies — primarily a session cookie that keeps you signed in. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Because we do not track you across sites, we do not respond to “Do Not Track” browser signals. We do not use your personal information for advertising or automated profiling.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers (“subprocessors”) that help us run the Service, each under contract and only as needed:
- Stripe — payment processing;
- our cloud hosting provider — running the Service;
- a cloud GPU render provider and object-storage provider — to perform and deliver cloud renders you request;
- an email delivery provider — to send account and notification emails.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety or property of ProCat, our users or others.
We may add, replace or remove subprocessors as the Service evolves, and will make reasonable efforts to update this policy when material changes occur. We will provide our current list of subprocessors on request or where required by law.
5. Data retention
We keep account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service and meet legal obligations, then delete or anonymize it. Cloud render outputs are typically retained for up to 7 days, but may be deleted sooner or retained longer where required for legal, security or operational reasons. You are responsible for keeping your own backups of your work.
6. Security
We use reasonable technical measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords and least-privilege access to our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Residents of the EEA/UK (GDPR) and California (CCPA/CPRA) have these rights, and we do not sell personal information. To exercise any right, email hello@procatstudio.com — you can also request deletion of your account, which we process after a short grace window.
8. International transfers
We and our subprocessors may process information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
9. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice where appropriate.
